Review: Sheinside (December 2014)
Friday, December 26, 2014
Hello everyone! I hope you've all had a nice holiday over the last few days. Today I'm going to reviewing a few items from Sheinside. Click read more to see my review on the Black High Waisted Pleated Skirt, Black V-Neck Loose Cardigan and the Light Blue Daisy Print Dress!
Disclaimer: These items are c/o of Sheinside for review purposes, however all my opinions are 100% honest regardless.
If you've read my Tumblr reviews, you’ve probably heard of Sheinside already. If you haven't: they are an online women’s fashion store that is based in Hong Kong. They stock a lot of cute Asian-style clothing and accessories and offer free worldwide shipping! They add new items or restock favourites almost every day so there’s always something new to look forward to.
The first item that I'm going to be reviewing is the Black High Waisted Pleated Skirt! It looks quite similar to the American Apparel tennis skirts, which is partially why I picked this out since I live in New Zealand and it's pretty hard to get AA items here. Here are the measurements for the skirt:
Sizes: XS / S / M / L
Waist: 62cm / 66cm / 70cm / 74cm
Hip: 86cm / 90cm / 94cm / 98cm
Length: 38cm (my own measurement)
This is what the skirt looked like. It looks basically exactly like the stock photo that was provided in the listing, except it looks a bit shorter than what I expected. I mean, I know it was going to be a short skirt but it was really short. Like so short that it barely covers my bliming butt. For reference, I'm 166cm tall, so it might work for you if you're a bit shorter.
Honestly, the quality of the skirt is very good. It's probably one of the best quality items I've received from Sheinside and it's better than quite a few skirts that I've bought from retailers here. It's well made, the stitching is all even and there weren't any loose stitches. I'm just a bit disappointed that it's so short on me. Apart from the length, it fits really well. Overall, it's a very good quality item but just be aware of how short it is.
Next up is the Black V-Neck Loose Cardigan! I really like the pattern that this has and I just thought it'd be nice to have a loose cardigan like this for the winter. Here are the measurements:
Sizes: One-size
Length: 69cm
Bust: 130cm
Sleeve length: 68cm
This cardigan is super thick. It's currently summer in New Zealand (yeah, I have no idea why I picked a cardigan during summer either) so it was a struggle taking photos and wearing this around since it was pretty hot most of the time. Another thing I like is the pattern of the cardigan. I usually wear netural colours but the overlapping pattern with the black and white looks different but still nice. The material is also pretty comfortable, not scratchy. The fit is also loose but tapered where needed, just how I prefer my cardigans.
One thing I really didn't like was the size of the sleeves though. I just felt that the sleeve opening was much too wide and it feels a bit odd combined with the weight of the cardigan. It just makes it a bit uncomfortable for me to wear.
Here is the last item I'm reviewing, the Light Blue Daisy Print Dress. I picked this dress out since the print was super cute and it seemed like a nice, light dress for summer time.
Here's how the dress looks, exactly like the stock photo. The blue fabric is a bit sheer but it's not really a problem since there's a white underlayer (see the last photo). It doesn't quite go down the whole way though, so if you're taller your legs will be a bit more exposed. The fabrics feel quite nice though, so wearing the dress is fairly comfortable. The dress was quite well made, aside from a couple loose threads that were around the back button latch. The fit was quite good as well, it fit almost perfectly while I was wearing it. However, it was a bit iffy to take off, even with the button unhooked. It felt more like the sleeve seam was too tight.
Here are some photos of me wearing the items:
T-shirt: Factorie
Socks: Gmarket
Shoes: Romwe
Cardigan: Sheinside
Shoes: Cute Can Kill
Here is the last item I'm reviewing, the Light Blue Daisy Print Dress. I picked this dress out since the print was super cute and it seemed like a nice, light dress for summer time.
Sizes: S / M / L / XL
Shoulder: 34cm / 35cm / 36cm / 37cm
Bust: 84cm / 88cm / 92cm / 96cm
Length: 82cm / 84cm / 86cm / 88cm
Sleeve length: 19cm / 19cm / 19cm / 19cm
Here's how the dress looks, exactly like the stock photo. The blue fabric is a bit sheer but it's not really a problem since there's a white underlayer (see the last photo). It doesn't quite go down the whole way though, so if you're taller your legs will be a bit more exposed. The fabrics feel quite nice though, so wearing the dress is fairly comfortable. Overall, I was decently happy with my items from this month. Some things definitely have been improved, but I can definitely see myself wearing the dress throughout the summer. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with the skirt since it's so short that I couldn't possibly wear it in public decently, but I might give the cardigan to my sister since she's less particular about these things.
Anyway, thank you for reading this review! If you're interested in any of the items that I reviewed, you can find them here:
