Review: Spreepicky

Friday, January 02, 2015

Woo, I'm on a roll with the reviews lately. I hope you've all had a great start to 2015! Did you do anything to celebrate? Personally, I just went to the beach with some friends and set off a few fireworks. Anyway, today I have another review. Today's post is about Spreepicky and their Navy Sailor Bowknot Dress.

Disclaimer: This item was sent to me by Spreepicky for review purposes, however my opinions are all 100% honest regardless. This post does feature affiliate codes.

Now this review is actually super mega late, so the item is no longer listed on their website unforuntately. But I thought it would still be helpful to do a review for Spreepicky since it's been so long since I've reviewed anything from them, almost a year in fact.

Spreepicky is a Storenvy store that stocks a lot of cute Chinese, Japanese and Korean fashion, plus accessories, wigs and honestly a lot of things. They have cosplay things as well, but my personal favourite items are their tights. Now, full disclosure, they do resell a lot of Taobao things but sometimes it's just easier to order through them (say if you're only buying one item) than going through a shopping service. All their items have free shipping too.

Anyway, more about today's item: the Navy Sailor Bowknot Dress. I have no idea why I chose this because honestly, I look ridiculous. But it was fun to wear and I felt cute for a lil bit. I don't recall if there were measurements on the listing page (which is now defunct) but I remember that I ordered the S size and I actually specifically remember thinking that I should've gone up to M but I wanted this dress a lot then.

The details of the dress are all super cute! I love the little embellishments like the double stripes, the gold buttons and the bow. It all fits together really nicely and it looks nice. And even though it was a size smaller than I would usually wear, it actually fit me well mostly. It was just around the bust area that it squeezed a bit more than I would've liked. I was surprised that the sleeves were the right length for me too! I think the only downside I could find to this dress was that some of the details could've been done to a better quality. If I remember correctly, this dress was around $35 which is not too bad, but I think the bow could've been better. It was secure but it felt a bit cheaply made and it was hard to attach to the dress myself, which had to be done with safety pins. My final verdict of the dress is good, but could have been a little better.
